Quick Look CSV Files As A Sortable Table
Read a CSV or TSV file as a sortable table, with the rest of the folder beside it
With the Space helper on, Space on a CSV or TSV file shows a sortable table, first row as header, the folder in the sidebar so the next export is one arrow away.
- Rows
- 50,000
- Columns
- 200
- File size
- 16 MB
The table fills the view.
Find, Copy And Fix A Cell
- ⌘F FindThe whole table, up to 10,000 matches counted.
- CopyPuts the table’s CSV on the clipboard.
- RawThe file’s text. Click to fix a cell; encoding and line endings kept.
- Read-only over 2 MBShown, not edited.
Space On A CSV
Needs the Space helper
macOS never hands CSV files to another app’s Quick Look extension. Turn on Use spacebar for every file and the optional Space helper opens them in spacebar; it needs Accessibility (as spacebar Helper) and runs at login. Without it, press Space on the folder and pick the file in the sidebar: Quick Look a whole folder.
Tables In Zips And Contents Search
- A CSV inside a zip opens in place, read-only, without extracting. See zip contents without extracting.
- Contents search in the sidebar finds text in the CSV files under a folder. See search the text of the files.
A Quick Look, Not A Spreadsheet
For reading and fixing a typo; Open hands a table to your editor, even with spacebar as your default app for data files. Sandboxed, no telemetry. The same window shows PDFs, photos and code: a Quick Look replacement. Compare Quick Look apps.
